THE 16 BOXES
What the 16 Boxes Are For
Walking into an unfamiliar church can feel uncertain, especially when you are new to faith or simply looking for a place to belong. Chyelp was built so you can see what a church offers before you ever walk through its doors.
Every church on Chyelp is described by a simple set of 16 checkboxes. Visitors check only the things they actually observed, and only those checked boxes appear on the listing. Nothing is ranked, graded, or starred. The checklist simply records what a church offers, so you can decide for yourself whether it feels like a good fit.
No stars, no grades, and no negative comments. Just a plain, honest picture of what each church does, shared by people who have been there. Whether you are visiting from Anacortes or from anywhere in the world, the boxes work the same way, giving you a calm starting point for finding your church.
The sixteen checklist items
Every church on Chyelp is described by the same sixteen items. A visitor checks only the ones they actually observed, and only those checked items appear on the listing. Unchecked items stay hidden, so nothing is marked as missing or lacking.

Why boxes, not grades
Walking into a church you have never visited can feel exposed. Star ratings and letter grades make that moment harder, because they turn a church into a score and leave a newcomer wondering whether they are about to be judged for choosing the wrong place.
Chyelp takes a different route. Each church is described by the boxes visitors actually checked from our 16-point list, and only those checked boxes appear on its listing. Nothing is ranked against anything else, and there are no negative comments to read before you go. You see what a church does, and you decide for yourself what fits.
A checked box says what is there, not how well it compares.
We are trying to help people find a church without grading the churches. If you would like to see how the checklist works in practice, read Church Listings Checked by Visitors or learn more about our approach on the About page.
